The St. Louis Club Scholarships
In February 1970, a scholarship fund was established in memory of Edith Burgess, who died the previous year. Initially the proceeds from the fund were used to support a needy student from St. Louis, MO attending Howard University (the alma mater of Edith's son). The criteria for awarding a St. Louis Club scholarship was revised to include any student from St. Louis, MO attending a school in the Metropolitan Washington area.
In February 1983 "The William L. Clay Scholarship and Research Fund" was established. The St. Louis Club supports these funds with an annual contribution and the designation of one of the scholarship recipients as the St. Louis Club Scholar.
The William L. Clay Scholarship and Research Fund sends scholarship packages to all St. Louis high schools annually by November 1. Students residing within the 1st Congressional District of Missouri can use the application located in this website to apply for the scholarship.
